In 2015, CSF and the Australian Society of Forestry jointly launched the “Sino-Australian Forestry Exchange Project”. From April 13, 2015 to April 19, 2015, a 6-member delegation of CSF went to Melbourne, Australia to attend the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Australian-New Zealand Society of Forestry. Through this meeting, members of the delegation learned about the technologies and experiences of Australian plantation breeding, cultivation, management, protection and product processing and utilization. The meeting enhanced the friendship between Chinese and Australian forestry science and technology workers and played a positive role in promoting the exchange and cooperation of forestry science and technology between China and Australia. On October 19, 2015, a four-member delegation including Mr. Anerdw Robert de Fégely, President of the Australian Society of Forestry, paid a visit to CSF. In a warm and friendly atmosphere, both parties reviewed the close cooperation between CSF and the Australian Society of Forestry over the years and expressed their desire to further strengthen cooperation and exchanges in the future. Shen Gui, Deputy Secretary-General, briefed the guests on the preparation of the 4th Forest Science Forum – International Conference on Forest Multi-Function Operation and Management in 2016, and invited the Australian Society of Forestry to send a delegation to attend the forum. President Rob accepted the invitation with pleasure. At the same time, Deputy Secretary-General Shen Gui and President Rob agreed to continue the “Sino-Australian Forestry Exchange Project” and seek new cooperation projects in sustainable forest management, eucalyptus plantation management and introduction and afforestation in arid regions.
